How are schools being kept Covid-safe this term?
With hundreds of thousands of pupils returning to school now that the summer holidays have ended, the first worry that has crossed many people’s minds, including the parents of those children is what precautions the schools are going to take in order to keep the pupils safe.
A recent article by BBC News goes into a little more detail about how schools are looking to keep their children safe, as well as a few of the common questions that are being asked.
How often will pupils be tested?
It comes as no surprise that all school children are being asked to take regular tests to make sure they are negative before coming to school, the article explains a little more: “In England, all secondary-school pupils are being asked to take two lateral-flow tests at school - three to five days apart.”
Many schools are contacting parents and informing them of the processes prior to their children returning to the premises.
What happens if a pupils test is positive?
Some parents may want to know what will happen if their children test positive and cannot attend school, the article gives a little more insight.
“Pupils who test positive must isolate at home for 10 days. The child - or their parents - will be asked to provide details about close contacts. Children named as close contacts will be asked to take a polymerase-chain-reaction (PCR) swab test.”
Will pupils still need to socially distance?
Rules on social distancing will very much depend on the school and their chosen rules since the enforced rules have been relaxed.
The article on the BBC said: “For schools in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, social-distancing measures have been relaxed. In many ways, the responsibility has been handed over to headteachers to decide what common-sense measures are needed. Depending on the layout and size of their school, some will decide to keep some of their one-way systems and crowd-control measures.”
You can continue reading the article for more in-depth information about the return to schools for many children. If you’re concerned about your children if they need to isolate, then why not look into private household staff who can take care of them whilst they isolate.
