Tips for visiting theme parks with young children
Although visiting a theme park with young children should be a day to remember, it can sometimes be a daunting task as you worry more about making sure they don’t get lost in the big crowds and keeping them entertained if the queues are long.
Cyan Nardiello, who was a Disney nanny who would take care of children at theme parks, spoke to The Sun and shared her top tips for visiting theme parks with young children. Read on to find out three of her top tips.
Allow time for naps
If you are staying at a theme park or somewhere nearby to the park, heading back for naptime can avoid a child having a tiredness-induced meltdown.
Cyan said: “I would go to the parks early in the morning when it's not as hot and the lines aren't so long.
“I'd return to your hotel around lunchtime and take a nap or enjoy the pool before going back in the evening because you'll skip the heat of the day and a lot of the crowds.”
Don’t skip the shows and other entertainment activities
The former Disney nanny, Cyan, also recommends not skipping any shows, parades and other entertainment activities that are taking place at the theme park you are visiting as they can offer a break from being constantly active.
“Having a kid do rides all the time when their body is constantly moving and they can't control what they're looking at is a lot.
“With shows, they're more in control of their senses and can sit and cool down.”
Buy gifts and souvenirs at the end of the day
Cyan recommends waiting until the end of the day to buy gifts and explains that while many rides exit into gift shops you should always tell children to wait until they’ve visited all the shops so they can then decide what they want.
Saying that you can come back to the shop later if there is a gift that they want will stop any child from getting upset about not buying the gift straight away.
