Whether it’s working through traditional side-scroller legends or getting slightly too competitive during an intense session of Mario Kart, Mario is a character many of us have already welcomed into our homes. However, 2023 brings something new as The Super Mario Bros. Movie releases.
The Little Mermaid

Disney has been on a run of live-action remakes of its fabled classics, and in 2023, it’s time for The Little Mermaid to shine. A retelling of the well-loved tale of Ariel, a mermaid who wishes to be on the surface with the people, the story will have messages of empowerment and self-belief. And it’s rumoured that four new songs will be introduced by none other than Lin-Manual Miranda – what’s not to love?
Elemental
UK Release Date: 16th June 2023
Rating: TBC
Family favourites Disney and Pixar link up once more for this mid-year release. Elemental takes it back to basics, where a city inhabited by fire, water, land and air residents is at the centre of the plot. In the film, we’ll see a classic “opposites attract” story, as fiery Ember meets watery Wade, and a bond is formed.
Harold and the Purple Crayon
UK Release Date: 30th June 2023
Rating: TBC
Inspired by the 1955 children’s book of the same name, Harold and the Purple Crayon might not be a story many in the UK are as familiar with, but over the pond, it’s a classic. Telling the tale of Harold, a young boy with a big imagination and a magic crayon, which makes it, so everything he draws comes to life. With stars such as Zachary Levi and Zooey Deschanel joining the cast, this is due to be a treat.
Trolls Band Together
UK Release Date: 20th October 2023
Rating: TBC
We’re sure there are no parents of young children who haven’t had their lives consumed by the Trolls franchise in recent years. These colourful, fun-loving, and musically diverse characters have become a popular watch for many children, with the covers of popular songs getting stuck in childrens’ and adults’ heads. In 2023, we are treated to the third official instalment, Trolls Band Together. Get ready to get singing!
